Born in the South of France, Xaros was part of the ‘Ecole de Nice’, also called the European New Realists. Among their most famous artists, we find Arman, Christo, and Niki de Saint Phalle. The 4 new Realism’ was a movement that emerged in 1960, which represented France’s response to the Pop Art movement, that was sweeping Europe and the United States at that time; it was mostly Arman that left a big impression on Xaros. Using Acrylic he creates volume and sculptures by the accumulation of different destructured and reconstructed objects according to his mood and desires.
